Wow, that's a statistic I never would have thought of. Thinking about it though, a professional sporting event utilizes an absurd of energy/power to make happen. Between the lighting, scoreboards, and everything else it makes sense that the energy required is that high. However, it's something that should definitely be reigned in to more sustainable levels. Will it? Probably not, because it helps teams make money.
