Thank you for posting this. I confess I have a (not so secret) love of 70s bands doing reggae songs. See also Hatian Divorce.[
Thanks for the ear worm- this is guaranteed to be stuck in my head all day now. :)
Wow! How timely! I saw them in March of '06 at the Charleston Coliseum- great show, but no incidental fireworks.
I always think of the Singles soundtrack when I hear this song- a formative album of my tween years long before anyone used the word tween.
Sonny Rollins - St Thomas
(Saxophone Colossus is the only cd in my car, my local NPR affiliate has been having a fund drive, and I often forget the cable for my data port.) Nina Simone - Here Comes the Sun
(just discovered this cover very recently.)
Love this. Reminds me of this movie.
I am moving to Japan in one month's time to be with my (American) fiance. I will most likely teach English. He works for an American company. When we move back to the states in a year or so I will return to the restaurant industry.

That sounds amazing!
I've been meaning to make a "soft pretzel panzanella"- that is to say, a bread salad using soft pretzel croutons. I'd like to experiment with all the classic South Philly flavors- broccoli rabe, sharp provolone, etc., with some sort of mustard-y vinaigrette. I made an iteration once that didn't quite do it for me. I haven't had occasion to try again, but now that tomato season is almost upon us...
I wonder how tea as a base for congee would be- you could maybe half it with stock- whatever the main protein is. Or, rice pudding with tea as a main flavoring component instead of water...
More here but beware annoying autoplay video with commercials.
Did MadLib compile this?
This is great- thank you so much for sharing this!!!
This could possibly work for me, but because I get in from Japan that night no guarantees. At any rate, enjoy, and hopefully I'll be able to join in next time!
I will be in Japan 3/24 - 4/7. See you mid April, and KAMPAI!
The David Byrne influence in her new stuff is undeniable. I dig it!
I might be drinking Salt N Peppas for the next drink club! Sounds great, and I have everything already!
Fantastic! Complete with psychedelic light show that kind of mirrors their album covers and totally complements the music without being over the top and annoying. Also, badass chick drummer!
Also, Indigo Meadow (their latest album) is good too.
I think Passover is my favorite. Phosphene Dream is really good too. There is also a 6 track (EP?) release called Phosgene Nightmare worth checking out if you like the other stuff. I saw them live last April- amazing show! I think they are touring with Roky Erickson this year.
I heart this band. A whole lot.
You're in with the in crowd for knowing that Bryan Ferry is still making new music.

That's right! I will probably space a flat of those out in there too.
Plymouth, Boodles, or Hendricks. Cheap gin hangovers are the worst, imo.
Hendricks makes a lovely, mild floral gin. A dangerous (in its deliciousness only!) martini I enjoy on occasion is Hendricks, St. Germain elderflower liqueur and a lemon twist, chilled (of course), stirred and served up. But the Hendricks is so lovely it could be enjoyed any number of ways. It is on the spendy side, though.
I am starting a smallish raised bed asparagus patch this year. Ten crowns are on the way soon along with a couple of heirloom tomato seedlings because asparagus and tomatoes are buddies, apparently. I'll probably fill it out with some basil and parsley.
