thank you!!

it kind of was. the longer story is that i had started coloring in black with charcoal and red by hand just to see and make things pop. The longest story is that I think I will prefer to color these in digitally if/when I do so.

It's so hard to have these big pages that are complete and, well, pretty good -- certainly I enjoy looking at them -- in black ink and to contemplate all the potential missteps that coloring could wreak on them!

I don't know that I will redraw the whole thing digitally, though if i don't, it will create complications with digital coloring. I knew if I waited until I had this colored to share it, it would probably be another year! :)

Hmm. Let me ask my brother and his wife, who actually work at Trader Joe’s, how many people they are seeing unmasked.

It’s likely to be at least a somewhat-more anecdotally-useful perspective, considering yours is that of a consumer who only goes to TJ’s sometimes and only gets to see a sliver of what the experience is actually like, as determined by time and place of visit, etc, etc.

Oh look — per their anecdotal reports which, despite being anecdotal, are more likely to be accurate than your own anecdata due to simply more time spent at the store and having a more extended perspective than that of a consumer looking to spend more than 15 minutes in a grocery — Signage about mask requirements has been 100% taken down as ordered by corporate

And their reports of maskless consumers are up around 5x. Btw, they live in the PNW just like you. It’s a different state, sure, but what else is really different?

Maybe you just must’ve missed it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You cannot take your outside experience as a consumer who is inside a grocery store for a minimal amount of time to be a true accounting of the difference this CDC announcement has made for the average grocery or retail worker. Full, fucking, stop.

It’s real cool that you didn’t observe a change in behavior when you went out and visually observed the situation for a coupla minutes.

It’s way different 24/7. Shut up about it

so I should be suspicious of the guys on hinge who are clearly using more emoji than average/others, because it's another way to engender a false familiarity? ;) i mean like, this is both a facetious question but NOT a facetious question!

Back on about Amazon drivers and pee bottles again? I agree. It's a hardship that's very easy to sympathize with.

If it weren't for STDs there'd be a whole lot of room for jokes about single use plastics and male hormonal birth control.

Unfortunately STDs just kinda negate the whole line of hilarity you could pull from that angle, at least so far as I've been able to think through it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

_refugee_  ·  1098 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Rupi Kaur is Not A Poet

Hard meh on that stance from me. That path takes you to "anything creative that people make that resonates with people isn't bad, you just don't like it." in my eyes, the title is attention grabby but the intent from the article is not to negate the fact that kaur puts out "verse" -- rather that as opposed to a 'poet' she's more of just a hack. And that resonates with me.

Kaur certainly doesn't seem like someone steeped in any deep knowledge of contemporary or past poetry. Or even spoken word or rap. She seems like someone that writes stuff that happens to resonate with people and it happens to take a form that looks poetic, so it's been called poetry.

I think poets as a whole might be pretty butthurt about the Kaur thing. I don't think it's just a white man response. It's funny because there's like what, six living white men who I could easily name who I know of who make a living as poets and that I would say "have a broad audience" -- and I spent like ~7 years of my life pretty dedicated to reading poetry as well as writing about it. I don't think the average person could name more than a handful. Kaur has exploded while most poets who consider themselves craftspeople universally struggle for any attention whatsoever, regardless of their gender or color.

Don't boil the conflict down to put it in a box you like the shape of (oppression olympics). With Kaur it's kind of more than that. NO modern poet that I am aware of has had the success or popularity of Kaur. And she's terrible

Edit: As an addendum, I don't exactly see Sizemore posting any hot takes about how terrible Amanda Gorman is, and I'd say she's probably the #2 hot poetic topic/poet of the moment next to kaur. And she's definitely still behind Kaur in terms of recognition.

_refugee_  ·  1101 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Ethereum has quietly become unforkable.

So, I guess what this means is if you have ETH, and the game forks in the future, you're at an unfortunate likelihood of becoming, ahem...forked yourself just by the odds of which tine you ended up on. Is that right? In other words, any forking (sorry, having trouble with my fingers trying to autocorrect :) ) is just as likely to be in your favor as against it, you have no control over the forking, so basically as a wise consumer holding ETH you'd...just really super discourage anyone getting any crazy ideas like forking into their head ever again. Is that it?

Is this how a conservative democracy starts?

Yeah, something happened that caused her to pop up on Twitter last night but I couldn't find what specifically it was. So this was the next closest thing I could find. oh wait, no this was it, i actually had found it

Hey man, glad to hear of the highs, and accept the lows when/on your own time. That’s a bit of a brainfuck about the coworker. And good luck with those angry parents. Remember that no matter what decision you made, people would’ve been unhappy.

I’m rootin’ for ya! Talk soon.
