I haven't read much into Neo-Marxism, but I reccomened listing to these podcasts they are very informative. They aren't very complicated but definitely teach you how to think in a Marxist sense, the most important thing to know is Marxism isn't someone telling you what the world is it's someone telling you how you can examine the world, it's a science.

I became communist after reading The Communist Manifesto and studying further into communism. I listened to a lot of these Right now I'm a Marxist, more of a Marxist Leninist, however I haven't read The State and Revolution yet.
Absolute freedom is the freedom of the community. It is not individual freedom. Absolute freedom guarantees absolute security. If they community is free from hierarchy coercion and violence than it has absolute security.
That looks like a sweet place too live.
