I have thoughts. I will extend this post with them later.

I saw Oppenheimer in true giant IMAX as a double feature with Barbie. This is how those films should be enjoyed IMO, back to back. Barbie has to live in the world Oppenheimer helped create. I'm half joking half serious.

Just my chest. Slightly better today. Thank you.

I can laugh at that and also laugh at the fact a guy pulled up to me in orbit and asked to talk about my ships extended warranty.

It's literally taught in med school that poverty is antithetical to health in every way you can imagine, going down to changes in brain chemistry.

Morlocks and Eloi is our future. Cannibalism included.

My dear, I used to think I was serving humanity . . . and I pleasured in the thought. Then I discovered that humanity

does not want to be served; on the contrary it resents any attempt to serve it. So now I do what pleases Jubal Harshaw."

Stranger in a Strange Land

I've become convinced I'm not fit to work in medicine because people writ large would prefer spread disease and pestilence rather than let educated professionals do their necessary and life saving work. I used to suffer under false belief that sickness, disease was the one enemy all of humankind could work against. I was wrong. There are quislings who actively work on the side of pestilence.

kleinbl00 come explain how its not aliens, has never been aliens, and even thinking that it could be aliens is dumb.

As a young child I thought I was a genius for realizing that you can get away with literally anything if you have the language to frame it correctly.

I did the same right about when Musk's acquisition was set.

How do you feel that us Millennials and other older people can best support you, your generation and people like you?

By and large I like to think that my cohort has a strong protective instinct toward todays youth, particularly those being singled out for persecution. And I also acknowledge there's a difference between feeling that feeling and living it out as practice.

I've recently gained the ability to buy very basic 3d printers on the cheap, I was considering putting together some kits and dropping them off at a local high school along with links that demonstrate how to make filament out of recycled pop bottles. Would anyone care to use them? As one example.

In your own words please characterize the crimes committed by the January 6th attackers.

I wait with bated breath.

In your answer please be sure to include the gallows and cross erected in the front of the capital building and the repeated calls for the execution of the vice president and other members of government

OftenBen  ·  636 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Trump's criminal culpability

Nothing gonna happen and we all know it. Jan 6th insurrectionists are getting weeks in jail and slaps on the wrist for the most part, over a year after the fact.

I'm not talking about norming social gossip that serves a purpose.

This is the 'circuses' part of 'bread and circuses.'

The fact that the onion hasn't gone out of business astonishes me day after day.

We are living in a joke that goes on and on with no punchline.

This is the problem.

Twitter is directly used by Trump with great effect to perpetuate stochastic terrorism and develop the extremist base necessary for coup attempts.

The confusion is understandable.

I suppose a slightly more articulate way to say it would be I cannot read this story without seeing reflections of my family in every sentence. I physically cringe at the idea of opening it up to read it again.

Well I will certainly be following this case with bated breath.

Truthfully all the questions that I have are lab and clinical data based at this point.

How much total xeno-origin tissue was used? What degree of native supporting vasculature was able to be salvaged/retained?

What is his anti-rejection therapy like? What was it like immediately pre and post transplant? What interval are they taking biopsies and what do they show?

I wish the patient and his family rest and healing, sleep that refreshes, drinks that quench thirst, nourishing meals taken with loved ones, a brighter tomorrow than the days before.

I really can't live like this.

Too many pills. Too many recurring issues that can't be properly treated even in-hospital.

My very nervous tissue is rotting out from underneath me and every time it happens it feels worse and takes longer to recover.

No end in sight.

I'm in Nashville for wedding #2. Less than 24 hours in the city and we've already come dangerously close to an emergency Room visit. This is gonna be some effort.

This heat and humidity is untenable, this city is a monument to mans hubris.

More mass death, concentrated in the poor and otherwise vulnerable.

We lack the stomach to defeat coronavirus. Our squeamishness and bone headed refusal to take responsibility for vaccinating each and every eligible body will be paid for with lives.

For some reason we prosecute drunk drivers but not those who willfully spread disease and misinformation about vaccines.

OftenBen  ·  998 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Dear Hubski, what are you reading this summer?

I love the Dresden Files!! Been an avid reader since high school, own all the books and several of the graphic novels.

It's definitely pulp, not highbrow anything but its tasty pulp at least, excellent beach reading.

Without spoiling anything, the series really picks up around books 3-4 and then takes off like a rocket quality wise. If you enjoy the first few at all you should love the rest of them.

Other than Harry who is standing out to you from the pack of supporting characters? Any favorite moments?

OftenBen  ·  1035 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Pubski: May 26, 2021

Two weddings to go to this summer. I hope I am able to make both.

Declining, and painfully. I'm going back to cardiac rehab sometime soon though, and that helped a little bit last time.

Treasure your health. Treasure your bodies ability to do what you ask of it.
