Havent been updating due to business, I should start again soon.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3573 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: The Grand Union Flag

Wow, thank you for the tips. I thought that keeping the posts short and sweet keep people viewing each day, due to wall of text. I'll definitely post more info and personal points of view from now on!! Thanks again!

I was a huge At the drive in fan, and loved every song by them. I remember the first time I heard Inertiatic esp. I stopped what I was doing, and just stood in awe, listening to the controlled chaos they were playing. Changed my view of music forever.

The Faroe Islands flag is my favorite. The white field and vibrant Nordic cross is beautiful, strong, and elegant

Hey man I'm a drummer too, and this song was a beast to learn.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3575 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Started a blog about flags

Oh I plan on it. I'll do it pretty much at random but try to tie it into specific dates (think the mexican flag on cinco de mayo), as well as historical flags, state flags, battle flags etc. Cant go wrong there.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3575 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Nearly every GM model has been recalled as of this year.

I think they're just trying to put everything out there in the open, thinking it will show that they aren't sweeping things under the rug anymore. While that is admirable, to have 54 recalls in a year really tarnishes your company's image to the public. People hear a recall, and even if its for a light bulb in the door panel, they dont care.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3575 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, what's your political persuasion?

Seems pretty fair to me. If you make $40,000 per year, and were taxed $8000 to go to infrastructure, healthcare etc, then received a return or whatever it would make sense. It is a lot of money if you think about it, but the average person making that should be okay.

Also, 20% of 1,000,000 would pump serious money into the government. As long as its fair Im for it. How idiotic is it that we have people who make more money paying less taxes? I refuse to believe the trickle down effect, because if the US dollar went to shit tomorrow, all these billioniares would just go somewhere else today.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3575 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, what's your political persuasion?

Anymore I dont know where I stand, because I find things I like and detest about most all political beliefs. I believe that healthcare, education, protection of borders, and municipal services should be run by the government. I also believe that there should be a market that is open for competition, but limits foreign investors and is regulated so things like the recession cant happen. The government should have no place in what you do with your own body (drugs, sexual orientation, etc) and should have a minimal role in your daily lives. Taxes are to be expected, but the more you make, the more you should be taxed.

Vexillologically speaking, even though it is one of the most recognized flags in the world, the US flag breaks a lot of flag design rules. The canton (upper blue part with the stars) is really cluttered, and if the flag werent so iconic, and emerged today as a new flag, most people would bash it for a bad design.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3575 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Started a blog about flags

Awesome and thank you! I agree, and find it interesting that no matter what country you're from, what your political beliefs are, or what your culture represents, we all have chosen flags to represent ourselves.

Okay so you inspired me to start a vexillology blog :D http://vexillogic.blogspot.com/

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3576 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What are you working on?

Become physically stronger, improve my career position, be a good father.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3576 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Boards of Canada- Sattelite Anthem Icarus

Wow, I havent met many people into both of those as well. I make it a habit to post the first song I listen to every day on Hubski. If there are any artists you're into that I may not know about, post away man!

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3576 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

I learned a lot from the reddit /r/vexillology forum. So much information in the side bar. Also, google and wiki work really well for just looking up history of flags.

I wonder what it will sound like inside the box, with it being so small, air tight, and sound proofed.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3580 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

Very cool. What do you mean by redefining masculinity?

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3580 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

No problem! I could talk about this stuff all day!

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3580 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

Your stuff is really cool. Has a very nostalgic but at the same time fresh vibe to it.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3580 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

I tend to be the opposite. I hate when my bare feet touch a floor that isnt carpeted.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3580 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

While it uses many colors, the corner "Ray" design is so unique. I like it!

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3581 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

I think it would be 100x better if they just left the seal out of the center

Its weird, I use firefox, switched to chrome and still nothing. Odd.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3581 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

Thanks, and thats cool that the flag can still represent something to you. My city had a pretty bad flag

Philadelphia

But I still kind of like it, due to the colors.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3581 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

Wow, Im digging your stuff man. Very cool.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3581 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

Not currently, as my guitarist has all the raw files on his laptop. Kind of like the cure meets blink 182 ish if I had to categorize it.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3581 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

I actually like their flag for how unique it is. Like Switzerland and their square flag.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3581 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

My favorite flag in the world is the flag of the Faroe Islands

I think its just gorgeous, elegant, and vibrant.

Honestly, the US is pretty bad when it comes to state/city flags. Either you get something beautiful like

Maryland

or Tennessee

Or its the opposite and you get a design abomination like

West Virginia

Or Montana

It is also argued that any flag with text on it is bad, so some of the Islamic groups and former soviet countries had text on the flag which is considered bad flag design.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3581 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

Never really gave it a shot, though I do write music, so that helps with stuff like that.

NewlyLostAgain  ·  3581 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, What makes you stand out?

Thank you! Honestly, since I was very young I enjoyed maps, and flags, but never really looked into it. Once I got older, and found out about Vexillology, (via reddit) I was hooked. I have a collection of 35 various flags from around the world. Each week I display one in my living room on a blank wall. I try to incorporate it around certain holidays (Irish flag for St. Patricks day, Mexican flag for Cinco de Mayo etc)
