I'm 25 and currently living in the suburbs of Paris at my mother's place. I went away for 2 years in Lyon, 6 months in Taïwan for my studies, but I'm starting my career and it's a huge help to be able to save a lot of money, especially to travel.

Also, all my long time friends from middle school and high school are still living in the area, so while I also have friends from university and business school in Paris, I don't feel an urge to move there.

Creativity  ·  2181 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Hubski, what's your favourite buy-it-for-life item?

I'm like you regarding my purchases, but thinking about what will hold 'for life' is extremely hard.

Before reading about your last purchase, 'My bag!' popped up in my head. Osprey Farpoint 40. It's been 4 years and it is still holding great through many travel adventures, be it accross the USA, Iceland, or South-East Asia. It's the perfect size (cabin size) for travelling, and can hold everything I need for 1 week, 1 month, or even 6 months (I pack that lightly, yes!) and it's incredibly robust. I don't think I will have any problem keeping it another 10 years.

Besides that, I can't really think of anything. My phone usually last 4 years (currently Galaxy S7, still working perfectly fine after two years), my computer is starting to have a hard time (5 years, Sony Vaio, will probably buy a Dell XPS in the next year), but these are not buy-it-for-life item.

I have a really hard time motivating myself to refine my cover letter, CV, and case interview skills before applying to strategic consulting intern positions.

I can define the perfect strategy about how, what, and when I should do things. And get my list of priorities straight. But at the end of the day, when I have to implement all this, it all falls down.

I need a drink.

We went to eat at night two times in the last two weeks (just the two of us). I'm seeing her tomorrow in an afterwork thing, she invited me. The thing is, I feel like it's always in a friend-setting and to change that mindset, I feel like I have to tell her my feelings towards her or it's not going to change. I don't sms/snapchat her except for asking her out to dinner (but I think in her mind it's a friendly dinner, not a date, as it was for me too before I had feelings for her).

I'm 22.

http://nautil.us/ : a science magazine which focuses on a different subject every month from different perspective.

Creativity  ·  3269 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: The social aggregator is a terrible business model.

I also think the best way would be to integrate a donation mechanism as a first step, and a store with some T-shirts/Stickers. I see Hubski as a content aggregator with a better social dimension than most websites because the community is small and we get to know and relate to each other.

As for the integration, to answer your question thenewgreen :

1) It should be on the top. I know it's more invasive this way, but I don't see a lot of people donating anything if it's at the bottom. I didn't even knew there was a bottom bar until recently and the introduction to the random link (which is great, btw).

2) It should be an easy integration with Paypal or Stripe. We should have the choice to do a monthly donation or a one time donation.

3) As for the incentives to donate, I don't think you need any. The community seems close enough to understand the goal here : maintaining a great place to share things and to talk about a lot of various subjects. But I think opening a store with some T-shirts and Stickers could add a source of revenue.
