The reason it was funny is because it was Samuel Jackson that said the line. It was also the way he said it considering his character. Slavery is a part of our past. Key word there is past. If you cant move on from it there will never be any progress. Mr. Jackson is a very proud black man. If he was okay with it why are you so against it? It was a funny joke considering when it was said in the movie.
