I still remember the days you could get a free Vice at basically any Java U coffee shop in Montreal. Back when there were more Java Us in the city than there were Starbucks. And when half their ads were for American Apparel. I always liked their photos and graphic design honestly. But then most Java Us closed down or went to shit. The one close to my house is now an A&W. American Apparel went bankrupt. And Vice progressively disappeared from coffee shops and started producing garbage youtube content. And it feels like it all happened around the same time. What were cool local companies at the start expanded into the corporate game, and lost 95% of what made them cool initially. And quality just went to shit. Or maybe (probably) what my 13 year old self considered cool was always garbage. It's hard to tell.

They do have some series that I liked, but it feels more like the merit belongs to the series hosts. Hamilton's pharmacopeia is one of the top of my head that's pretty neat. He interviewed some legends on that show. But I almost feel like the interesting parts of a lot of the conversations are cut out in the edit in a lot of the episodes.
