I like this. Big events (I think I mean big to the individual; 5K fun runs can be big) are a lot about the mental game. I think that's what appeals to me with ultra marathons. They take the best of the best and tear them down to the level of the rest of us. In the end, we're all human and have similar problems on a scale unique to the individual.“they ain’t givin’ it, I’m takin’ it”
