Galbraith pointed out that an analysis by a bunch of Coolidge appointees did not recommend regulating the market further, and that Congress tightened monetary policy to curb speculation about four months before the crash. Parallels are not easy to draw, much as everybody wants to, but most people would agree that deregulation certainly prompts higher highs. After all, that's the point.
