Not that long ago (on geologic scales), where I sit now was under a glacier. I drive past drumlins on the way to work; one road near me is arrow straight for several miles until it bends off to skirt the edge of a drumlin. Not far from me is a lake that formed when the glacier dammed an ancient river. The river bluffs are still there on both sides with terminal moraines at each end. The water that flowed into that dammed river formed a glacial lake. When that glacial lake drained as the ice melted, it formed some remarkable gorges. It probably went through many centuries of reforming and draining.

The power of glaciers is amazing.
