Teaching also helps you clarify your own knowledge. My parents did a combined ten years in the Peace Corps and my father is fond of referring to the two years he spent teaching engineering to the Quechua as the best engineering school he ever took. He maintains that so long as you're a week ahead of the rest of the class, you can teach anything. And now, by the way, you understand why I'm such an intolerable know-it-all.
