You know "what is the eu?" is not a crazy question to be asking as a British citizen. Britain got to do a lot of picking and choosing (other countries did to but not as much). So being in the EU for Britain may mean something different than being in the EU as France. The source is Biased but Table 3 on pg 6 is really kind of interesting.
