I would imagine it has to do with Spotify's agreements with the record labels these artists are signed to. I mean, the whole Tidal platform seems like a "fuck you" to record labels, and I think Jay-Z is looking toward a time when Tidal can make them obsolete. Spotify can't do this. It probably makes little difference to indie artists, though.What is he talking about? There's nothing stopping anyone from releasing a 17 minute song on Spotify. I see Close to the Edge by Yes on there. Hell, they even have Dopesmoker, and that's an hour long! Am I missing something here?
