I've read about 16 of them. Most of them were pretty good.

Not that many Steinbeck novels on the list.

Hated Falkner and Melville.

Was glad to see Thomas Wolfe's, "Look Homeward, Angel" on the list. Can't say if it's really good or if it just hit me at a time when it was just the right thing for my state of mind, it really scratched an itch.

Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man" is a favorite novel of mine, read it three times over the last two decades. Twice for school but once for myself.
